Welcome to the Chelmsford Afghan Community (CAC). We are a fully volunteer-run organisation created by and for Afghan residents living in Chelmsford and the wider Essex county. We are more than an organisation — we are a big family unit.

Afghan Cultural Evening

Chelmsford Library, Market Road, Chelmsford

An evening celebrating Afghan art, poetry, music, and storytelling. Community members are invited to share performances and cultural knowledge. This is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our rich heritage, connect with neighbours, and welcome those who are curious about Afghan culture.

Khpalwaki/Istiqlal Day — Afghan Independence Day

Chelmsford, Essex (venue to be confirmed)

Join us as we proudly celebrate Istiqlal Day — Afghanistan's Independence Day. On 19th August 1919, Afghanistan reclaimed full sovereignty and independence. We will mark this historic occasion with cultural performances, traditional food, music, and reflection on what it means to carry our Afghan identity with pride in our new home. All members of the community and friends are warmly welcome.
